WEB Former President Donald Trump pleads not guilty
Court appearance related to 34 felony charges
Trial date set for October 4
Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday to 34 felony charges related to his handling of classified documents after leaving office. The charges include willful retention of national defense information, obstruction of justice, and concealment of a material fact.
Trump appeared in federal court in New York City for a brief arraignment hearing. He entered his plea through his lawyer, Alina Habba. A trial date has been set for October 4.
The charges against Trump stem from the Justice Department's investigation into his handling of classified documents after he left office. In August, FBI agents raided Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and seized more than 100 classified documents.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has accused the Justice Department of conducting a political witch hunt against him.
